Finally A Championship Ring For Lebron
This time, he was not to be denied. After 9 long years of hard work on the hard court, Lebron James, the son of an ex-convict who abandoned the family in the early years, finally bagged his first ever championship ring as the Miami Heat beat the Oklahoma Thunder, 4-1, in the finals series to win the 2011-2012 NBA title.
The 6'8"James, who receives an annual salary of $16 million, registered a triple double of 26 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists in Game 5 which was indicative of his sterling all-around performance during the series. James has an endorsement contract, among others, with giant shoe manufacturer Nike worth $90 million.
Dwayne Wade, pocketing his 2nd NBA ring, proved to all and sundry that he could work and play with another superstar as he performed consistently throughout the championship round. He was his old self again, shooting from the outside and driving to the basket.
Chris Bosh, the 3rd in the much-vaunted Big 3, can now lay claim to that super stardom status which some sports writers and co-players would not bestow on him. He was the picture of sheer determination as he egged on the home crowd to cheer and provide support and inspiration.
With Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers and Mike Miller shooting threes in spectacular fashion, Miami Heat outplayed and outgunned the Oklahoma Thunder as the Heat were continuously hitting the open man. The big men of Miami had the edge over their counterparts in terms of mobility and agility.
And kudos to the man who molded these stars into one cohesive unit. And I am referring to Fil-Am coach Eric Spoelstra whose mother hails from San Pablo City in Laguna. Aren't you proud that you are a Filipino?
